Simulate Material Availability for Parent Part

Explanation

Use this activity to simulate a shop order and its material availability. This allows you to check whether or not it is possible to manufacture the selected part on a certain day.

Prerequisites

An inventory part must be defined and must have a buildable structure.

System Effects

The system calculates the accessibility of the selected part under user-specified simulated conditions.

Procedure

From the Simulate Availability for Shop Order Material window:

  1. Query or populate, then select the part for which you want to simulate accessibility of material in the Part No list.
  2. In the Simulated Start Date field, today's date will appear by default. It is possible to modify this value to the date for which you want to run the simulation.
  3. In the Quantity field in the Simulate Conditions area, specify the quantity of parts that you want to simulate, i.e., the lot size of the planned shop order.
  4. To show only possible shortages instead of all material lines, select the Display Shortage Only check box.
  5. Right-click and then click Simulate. The result appears in the Quantity Available column in the table.

From the Order Availability Check window:

  1. Search for the shop order number.
  2. Specify the simulate conditions in the Simulate Conditions area.
  3. Click Calculate.
