Usage

Use this window to create, edit, and view the configuration characteristics and usages for a configured part. The window can be started from sales quotation, customer order, interim header, shop order and DOP. It is the required date that controls the selection of the part configuration revision to be used when creating a configuration. The part configuration revision must be in Released status since only those in this status can be used to create configurations, for instance, when creating a customer order. When you start a new configuration with create, only the required characteristics for the revision will be seen in the configuration; when editing or viewing, the existing configuration characteristics and options, if any, will be displayed. Edit configuration is also used to edit a configuration template which can only be done via the Configuration Template window.

Adding characteristic and option values connected to the part configuration revision is possible. Optional characteristics can be added by creating new lines and a value is selected from the List of Values. Option values can be manually added and for discrete characteristics the List of Values can be used to select one from the available options. In the List of Values dialog box, unavailable values can be viewed by selecting the Display Unavailable Options check box. It is also possible to set a quantity for the characteristic to be used in the configuration.

If sales rules are connected to the configurable part and revision, the sales rule engine is executed automatically when you open the window in the create or edit mode. If a package characteristic is added to the configuration, it overrides the previously, manually or sales rule added characteristics in the configuration and cannot be manually changed or updated as long as the connection to the package characteristic exists in the configuration.

This window can also be used to edit the characteristic/option prices for the configured part. If the planned delivery date is changed and the new effective part configuration revision is selected, then all configuration base prices are updated according to the prices defined for the effective revision. It is not possible to change the part configuration revision and retain the original prices or select configuration base prices of other revisions. All prices are strictly connected to its part configuration revision and can only be used to define the sales price when the revision is used.

Configuration can be done in two different modes. In standard mode all characteristics are displayed in the table to be configured. If the configure by category mode is selected you can configure one category at a time. It is only the characteristics connected to the current category that is displayed in the table. In this mode you use the previous and next buttons to continue with the configuration when characteristic values for the current category exist in the configuration. When all characteristics have a value, all characteristics can be displayed by selecting the View All check box.

In the bottom section of the window you can review the pricing summary for a sales quotation line or a configured customer order line.
