Define Plant

Explanation

This activity involves defining a Plant to hold your IFS/Asset Design object data. A plant here, is an engineering or reengineering design that behaves according to its Standard. A plant consists of design objects and also owns the object information such as Object Connections, Document Connections, Project Connections and Additional Parts, among others. An object in one plant cannot be shared by other plants and multiple plants can be defined under the same standard.

A standard must be defined.

A plant is created and all system users are granted visibility access.

Procedure

  1. Open the Plant or Plants window.
  2. Click New.
  3. In the Plant field, enter a unique name for your plant. A value in this field is required.
  4. In the Standard field, use the List of Values to select an existing standard for the plant. A value in this field is required.
  5. Enter information in the remaining fields, as required, to document your plant.
  6. Click Save.

Alternatively open the Standard window, query for the standard for which the plant is being defined and perform all steps with the exception of 4, as the plant will be created for the standard displayed in the header of this window.
