The service request is a fast and easy way to report a service, or a fault. In the Service Request all necessary information about the specific service assignment is recorded. When creating a service request it is possible to find the object that is linked on to a particular customer when you retrieve the customer and the other way round. It is also possible with the help of the system to find valid service contracts.
Before a service request is created you have to define the objects that belongs to a certain customer. You can also define service contracts or customer and supplier warranties for the object. When the user enters a service request it is then possible to see which objects, contracts and warranties that belongs to a given customer. You also have to enter some mandatory information when you create a service request such as a short description of the service, or the fault and the maintenance organization. The service request is used in IFS/Service Management.
If you are performing internal maintenance, which means if there is neither an external customer nor a service contract connected to the work order you have to use the Fault Report instead. The fault report is used in IFS/Maintenance.
