Usage

Use this tab to define alternate parts for a structure position. Defining alternate parts for a structure position means, creating a list of valid parts for the structure position. This list includes the original part (the prime part) that currently occupies the structure position. Each part in the list must be a valid engineering part revision. The list of valid parts can consist of both serialized and non-serialized parts. It will be restricted to serialized parts if the prime part is serialized, and to non-serialized parts if the prime part is non-serialized. A list of valid parts can only be defined for parts that are on the lowest level of the serial structure template (note that the lowest level parts may have a structure of their own by pointing to another configuration). You can define the relationship between the prime part and its alternates, as well as the relationship between the different alternates (if those parts are installed). By default, each alternate is linked to the existing template, if there is one, for that specific part number and revision.

The definition of an alternate for a structure position will result in the automatic creation of a part both in the Part window and in IFS/PDM-Configuration.
