Managing Scheduled Plans—Exercises

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show you how to manage the allocation plans which are returned to IFS Applications from the Scheduling Engine. You will learn how to view scheduled plans and assign a suitable plan to an employee. You will also learn how to unassign an employee from a work order, which will trigger an action to resend the work order to the Scheduling Engine to be rescheduled.

Prerequisites: The previous lessons in the Schedule Work Order with 360 Scheduling chapter must have been completed.

Note: This lesson is not applicable for work orders that are scheduled by the SDS (Scheduling Dispatch Service), since such work orders are automatically assigned or unassigned to the employee suggested by the SDS.

View Scheduled Plan

  1. Open the Scheduled Work Orders window and query (F3) for the relevant work order.
  2. View details for the scheduled plan.
  3. If needed, right-click on the record and click Prepare to open a window with more details on the work order. Click the Scheduling tab to view the scheduled plan. The Scheduling tab can also be opened from the following windows: Service Request, Report In Work Order, Report In Route, Historical Work Order and Historical Route Work Order.

Assign Work Order to Employee Allocated in the Scheduling Engine

  1. Open the Scheduled Work Orders window and query (F3) for the relevant work order (Hint: filter on orders that have the Allocated scheduling status). Can also be performed in the Scheduling tab which is found in the Prepare Work Order, Service Request, Report In Work Order and Report In Route windows.
  2. Right-click on the record and then click Assign to Allocated Executed By.
  3. Verify that the allocated employee's ID is shown in the Executed By field on the work order, and that the work order is moved to the Assigned status.

Assign Work Order to Current User

  1. Open the Scheduled Work Orders window and query (F3) for the relevant work order. Can also be performed in the Scheduling tab which is found in the Prepare Work Order, Service Request, Report In Work Order and Report In Route windows.
  2. Right-click on the record and then click Assign to Current User.
  3. Verify that the allocated employee's ID is shown in the Executed By field on the work order and that the work order is moved to the Assigned status.

Unassign Employee from Work Order

  1. Open the Scheduled Work Orders window and query (F3) for the necessary work order number (Hint: filter on orders that have the Commited scheduling status). Can also be performed in the Scheduling tab which is found in the Prepare Work Order, Service Request, Report In Work Order and Report In Route windows.
  2. Right-click on the record and then click Unassign.
  3. Verify that the Executed By field on the work order has been cleared, and that the work order is moved to the Released status.
