Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this initial exercise is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in Training Administration, which entails:

These initial exercises are intended for instructor use.

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Administering Training

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the basic functionality of training administration. The exercise entails creating a training event, including a course, trainer and participant, and changing the event and participant status.

Training Event

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown. (To view existing data, populate (F2).)

  1. Open the Training Event window. Create a new record (F5) and enter XXPROJMGMT as the training event ID, where XX corresponds to your initials. Enter the training event name Project Management.
  2. Enter a course duration of four days and a maximum number of participants of four. Change the start date according to your trainer's instructions.
  3. Save the information (F12).
  4. Open the Offered Courses tab. Create a new record (F5) and select the PROJMGMT, Project Management course from the List of Values.
  5. Save the information (F12).
  6. Open the Trainer tab. Create a new record (F5) and select a main trainer from the List of Values.
  7. Save the information (F12).
  8. Change the training event's status to Published by right-clicking in the header.
  9. Open the Participant tab. Create a new record (F5), select to register an internal participant, and select the participant from the List of Values.
  10. Change the training event's status to Confirmed by right-clicking in the header.
  11. Change the participant's status to Confirmed by selecting the participant and right-clicking.
  12. Change the participant's status to Noticed by selecting the participant and right-clicking.
  13. Change the training event's status to Completed by right-clicking in the header.
  14. Change the participant's status to Attended by selecting the participant and right-clicking.
