Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercise(s) is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in Shipment, which entails:

IMPORTANT
These initial exercises are intended for instructor use.

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Create Pick List and Print Pick List

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for creating and printing pick lists.

Prerequisites:

  1. Customer Order window, and create a new record.

  2. Enter the customer C.S.C. Cape Town, either manually or using the List of Values

  3. Enter a wanted delivery date within a week from the current date. (the date in the header will become the default date for all order lines).

  4. Enter the order type NO. 

  5. Select coordinator from the List of Values.

  6. Save your changes and note the order number: _______________.

  7. Click the Order Lines tab, and create a new order line.

  8. Enter the sales part Street Car and the sales quantity 6 pcs.

  9. Save your changes.

  10. In the order header, right-click and then click Release. Then click OK in the window that appears.

  11. Reserve the customer order by right-clicking and then clicking Reserve in the Reserve Customer Order Lines window. Review the parameters, and then click OK in the window that appears.

  1. Open the Create Pick List for Customer Orders window, and query for the customer order.

  2. Select the customer order, and right-click and then click Create Pick List

  3. Open the Print Pick List window, and use the right mouse button menu to print the pick list.

  4. Open the Archived Reports window, and select the appropriate document. Right-click and then click Print, and then click Preview. Review the pick list.

Note: You can view the report before printing by clicking Preview.

Report Picking

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for reporting picking.

Prerequisites: A pick list must have been created for a customer order. 

Windows:
Report Picking of Pick Lists
Customer Order/Order History

  1. Open the Report Picking of Pick Lists window, and search for the customer order.

  2. Select the pick list, and right-click and then click Report Picking

  3. Open the Customer Order window.

  4. Click the Order History tab.

  5. Verify that the following events have been executed: Planned, Released, Reserved, Pick List XXX Created, Pick List XXX Printed, and Picked.

Deliver Customer Order

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for delivering customer orders.

Prerequisites: A customer order with at least one order line must have been pick reported.

Windows:
Deliver Customer Orders

  1. Open the Deliver Customer Orders window, and query for the customer order.

  2. Select the order, and deliver it as picked, i.e., without any differences, by right-clicking and then clicking Deliver.

Create Delivery Note and Print Delivery Note

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality for creating and printing delivery notes.

Prerequisites: A customer order with at least one order line must have been delivered.

Archived Reports

  1. Open the Create Delivery Note for Customer Orders window, and query for the customer order.

  2. Select the order, right-click, and then click Create Delivery Note.

  3. Open the Print Delivery Note for Customer Orders window. Right-click and then click Print Delivery Note.

  4. Open the Customer Order window and click the Order History tab.

  5. Verify that the following additional events have been executed: Preliminary Delivery Note YYY created, Delivered, Delivery Note YYY Created, and Delivery Note YYY Printed (compare with the Report Picking exercise above).

  6. Open the Archived Reports window, and select the appropriate document.

  7. Right-click and then click Print. Review the delivery note.

Note: You can view the report before printing by clicking Preview.
