Managing Emergent Work and Risk—Exercises

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand how emergent work and risks are managed on a service quotation.

Service Quotation

Enter Emergent Work Percentage

  1. Open the Service Quotation window, and query for the service quotation you created in the Creating Service Quotation from Maintenance Order exercise.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. Enter 10% in the Emergent Work field under Charge Base.
  4. Save the record. The Calculation Required check box is selected automatically.
  5. Click the Quotation Totals tab, and note the price for one or several of the lines.
  6. RIght-click on the header, and click Calculate Total Cost and Quoted Price.
  7. Note that the Emergent Work and Emergent Work in Cust. Curr. fields now have values, which are 10% of the price to quote amount.
  8. Right-click and click Print Quotation Letter and preview the quotation letter. Note that the emergent work amount is now summarized in the header and that the Net Amount Emergent Work column is filled in.

Enter Risk Percentage

  1. Click the General tab.
  2. Enter 5% in the Risk field, under Charge Base.
  3. Save the record. The Calculation Required check box is selected automatically.
  4. Click the Quotation Totals tab, and note the price for one or several of the lines.
  5. Right-click on the header and click Calculate Total Cost and Quoted Price. Note that the emergent work fields are not updated. Risk is not added to emergent work.
  6. Note that Price To Quote and Price To Quote In Cust. Curr. fields were updated and the amount had an addition of 5%.
  7. Click the Quotation Price Details tab. Note that the Price To Quote field now includes the risk amount.
