Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to show how to view a document.

Windows:
Document Revision
Document Revisions

 

Note: When you view a document, a copy of the document file will be placed in your local check-out path. If such a copy already exists, you will receive the message:

        The copy XXX already exists, do you want to overwrite it?

To ensure that you are viewing the latest version of the file, click Yes.

Viewing a Document from Document Revision

In the Document Revision window, there is a specific button to use when you view documents.

  1. Open the Document Revision window.
  2. Query for the search criteria shown below.

  1. Click View.
  2. Click Original Document and then click OK.
  3. If the Choose Macro window opens, click Skip Macro.

Result: The document file is displayed in its original application.

Viewing a Document from Document Revisions

The View Document option is available in most of the overview windows as a right mouse button option. This exercise shows one example of this.

  1. Open the Document Revisions window.
  2. Query for the search criteria shown below (or click Previous Query in the Query list).

  1. Select the first revision of the document. Then right-click, point to File Operations, and click View Document.
  2. Click Original Document and then click OK.
  3. If the Choose Macro window opens, click Skip Macro.

Result: The document file is displayed in its original application.
