Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to copy a document file from IFS Document Management into a local directory.

Copying a Document

In this exercise, you are going to make a copy of the Front Wheel specification and place it on your computer.

  1. Open the Document Revisions window.
  2. Query for the search criteria shown below.

  1. Select the document revision. Then right-click, point to File Operations, and click Copy File To.
  2. Browse to the directory where you want to save the copy (e.g., C:/Temp) and enter a file name.
  3. Save the information.

Note: You need at least View access to be allowed to copy a document.

  1. Open the directory where you put the copy (e.g., C:/Temp) and verify that the file has been saved properly. Note: The file name begins with the phrase Copy of to distinguish the copied file from the original one.
