Copy Document—Extended Exercises
Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to
copy a document file from IFS Document Management into a local directory.
Windows:
Document Revisions.
Copying a Document
In this exercise, you are going to make a copy of the Front Wheel
specification and place it on your computer.
- Open the Document Revisions window.
- Query for the search criteria shown below.

- Select the document revision. Then right-click, point to File
Operations, and click Copy File To.
- Browse to the directory where you want to save the copy (e.g.,
C:/Temp) and enter a file name.
- Save the information.
Note: You need at least View access to be allowed to copy a
document.
- Open the directory where you put the copy (e.g., C:/Temp) and verify that
the file has been saved properly.
Note: The file name begins with the phrase Copy of to distinguish
the copied file from the
original one.
