Selections and Views 2—Extended Exercises
Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of these
exercises is to show how to create advanced and three-level selections.
Windows:
Sales and Marketing main window
Creating an Additional Relation for a Selection
-
Go to the
Selection and Views pane.
-
Right-click
on Activities and then click Add Selection on the Private
selection.
-
The Add Selection
dialog box will be opened.
-
Name the
selection Contacts – Meetings and click Next.
-
Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the Activity table.
-
Click
Activity.
-
In the Activity list, click Meeting.
-
Click the
Equal Sign ( =).
-
Click
and.
-
Click
Relation.
-
Select
Activites.Contact to join the Activities table with the Contacts table. Click
OK.
-
Verify that
the criterion Activitiy.Contact == Contact appears in the criteria
field. A double equal sign means that the two tables are linked to each
other by a cross reference in the contact field.

Click
Next.
-
The New View dialog
box will be opened.
-
Name the
view Contact list – meetings. and click OK.
-
Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the Activity table.

Double-click End Date, Activity, and Responsible.
-
Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the Account table.
-
Double-click Name.
-
Click the Plus Sign (+)on the left of the table name to expand the Contact table.
-
Double-click First Name, Last Name, Job Title, Phone,
Fax, Mobile, and E-mail.
-
Click
Finish.
-
Run the
selection by double-clicking the Contact list – meetings view.

Verify that
a list of meetings and contact information appear in the
Result
pane.
Note: Use the Recent
Selections toolbar to select from a list of the most recent selections.
Creating a Three-Level Selection

In the
Selection and Views pane, create a new private group called
Opportunities.
-
Right click
on the group and the click Add Selection.
-
The Add Selection
dialog box will be opened.
-
Name the
selection Opportunity Activities. Click Next.
-
Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the Opportunity table and click Status.

In the Status list, click Confirmed Interest.
-
Click the
Equal Sign (=).
-
Click
Next.
- The
New View dialog box will be opened.
-
Name the
view Opportunities – Activity List and click OK.
-
Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the Opportunity table.

Double-click Start Date, Closure Date, Status,
Profit, and Contact.
-
Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the
Opportunity Line table.
-
Double-click Sales Part No,
Quantity and Responsible.

Click the
Plus Sign (+) on the left of the table name to expand the Account table.
-
Double-click Name.
-
Click
Finish.
-
Verify that
the
Result pane shows the required information.
Using Advanced Selections
- On the Selections and Views pane,
use the advanced selection similar to the private and public selections by
simply double clicking to run the selection.
Note: This advanced selection is shown only if
it has been enabled in Sales & Marketing Administrator.
