Course Description for IFS Sales & Marketing Client—Intermediate

This course will introduce you to several features of the IFS Sales & Marketing Client that complement features covered by the Basic course. You will learn how to query for information in a database by creating selections, and how to display that information in different views. You will also learn how to create and manage campaigns, and how to use mail merge functions as part of your campaign management. There is also a chapter on how to synchronize information between a server database and a local database.

The course consists of two chapters, each of which contains three lessons and associated exercises.

Selections and Views

This chapter consists of three lessons that outline the Selections and Views functionality, which offers you a powerful tool to find and display information in your database. You will learn how to use selections as an effective way of targeting customers and contact groups, and how to use selection operators to tailor your selections according to your information needs. You will also learn how to run advanced selections that have been created through the IFS Sales & Marketing Administrator.

You should have completed the Sales & Marketing client Basic course.

Campaign Management and Mail Merge

This chapter consists of three lessons that show you how to use IFS Sales & Marketing for creating and managing campaigns. Following a basic workflow, you will learn how to define a target group, create campaign activities and events, and generate invitations and newsletters. You will also learn how to record and analyze the feedback to your campaign. In addition, the course introduces the Mail Merge functionality—a useful campaign management tool that allows you to transfer data from IFS Sales & Marketing to Microsoft Word to produce letters, e-mails, and labels for mass mailings.

Prerequisites

You should have completed the Sales & Marketing Client Basic course and studied the previous Selections and Views lesson, including all exercises.

Synchronization

This chapter consists of two lessons and an exercise. You will learn how to synchronize a new or existing local database with a server database. This allows you to work offline with your customer information. With the Discrepancy Utility, you will learn how to reconcile discrepancies between the two databases.
