Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is to demonstrate the Selections and Views functionality in Sales and Marketing, which entails:

IMPORTANT
These initial exercises are intended for instructor use.
If you are a student, it is extremely important that you log on to a local Oracle database to maintain your data integrity. If you work on a server database, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require your data to be isolated in your own local database. To install the local database you need to contact the System Administrator.

Adding a Group, a Selection and a View

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate how to add a selection group, selection, and a view. In this situation we want to search for the Address list for UK or US accounts.

Windows:
Selections and Views pane

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps.

  1. In the selections and views pane right-click on Private to create a new group.

  2. Click Add Group. The Add Group dialog box will be opened. Name the group as Contacts and click OK.

  3. Right-click on your private group Contacts and click Add Selection.

  4. Enter UK or US Accounts as the name of the selection in the Add Selection dialog box and click Next.

  5. Click the Plus Sign (+) on the left of the dialog box to expand the Account table.

  6. Click  Country.

  7. In the Country list, select United Kingdom.

  8. Click the Equal Sign (=) and verify that the following appears in the criteria field: Account.Country=UNITED KINGDOM

  9. Click OR.

  10. In the Country list, click United States.

  11. Click the Equal Sign (=) and verify that the following appears in the criteria field: Account.Country=UNITED STATES then click Next.

  12. Enter Address List as the name of the view and click OK.

  13. Click the Plus Sign (+) on the left of the dialog box to expand the Account table.

  14. Double-click Name, Address1, Address2, Post Code, City, County, Country, and E-mail.

  15. Verify that the fields appear in the view area to the right.

  16. Click Finish.

Note: To run the new selection, right-click on the Address List view and click Apply. The result will be displayed in the Result pane.
