Localizer—Exercises
Basic Data Setup
Add a New Field
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the
basic data required for running this particular functionality.
Launch Application: Sales & Marketing Workshop
- Open Sales and Marketing Workshop. Make sure you log in to
a local Oracle database.
- On the left pane, click on the
Contact table.
- On the Table menu, click Add Field.
- On the dialog box that appears, enter ContactPerson as the field name.
- Enter the field label as Contact Person and select the field type
Text.
- Select the Mandatory check box.
- Click Save.
Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to localize
translations and import and export localized translations.
Launch Application: Sales & Marketing Workshop
Launch Application: Sales & Marketing
Adminstrator
- Open Sales and Marketing Workshop.
- On the Tools
menu, click Open Localizer to launch Sales and Marketing
Localizer.
Note: Alternatively, you can open localizer from the File menu
in Sales and Marketing Administrator.
- On the Field Translation tab, look for the Contact Person field you entered by looking for the ID. You will see a row of
question marks (?????) in the Label field.
- Click Verify.
- On the dialog box that appears, select Use prog language (pro) in
both group boxes.
- Click Next.
- Verify that the summary is correct and then click Finish.
- Go to View > Refresh to see the changes.
- To export a file, click Export.
- On the dialog box that appears, click Browse to browse for the
location you want to save the file, and give the name Export.
- Click
Save.
- Select
Translation as the type of file and Prog Language (pro) as the
language.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Click OK on the
information message confirming the export.
- To import a file, click Import.
- On the dialog box that appears, click Browse to browse for the
exported file.
- Click Open.
- Make sure that both check boxes in the Options area and
Languages area are selected.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Click OK on the information message confirming the import.
- To copy translations, click Copy.
- On the dialog box that appears, select English (en) as the
language to copy.
- Select To Existing Language and select Svenska (sv) on the
drop-down menu.
Note: The languages that appear on the list may vary. You may select a
language of your choice.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Click OK on the information message that appears.
