Basic Data Setup

Add a New Field

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

Launch Application: Sales & Marketing Workshop

  1. Open Sales and Marketing Workshop. Make sure you log in to a local Oracle database.
  2. On the left pane, click on the Contact table.
  3. On the Table menu, click  Add Field.
  4. On the dialog box that appears, enter ContactPerson as the field name.
  5. Enter the field label as Contact Person and select the field type Text.
  6. Select the Mandatory check box.
  7. Click Save.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to localize translations and import and export localized translations.

Verifying a Field Translation

  1. Open Sales and Marketing Workshop.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Open Localizer to launch Sales and Marketing Localizer.

Note: Alternatively, you can open localizer from the File menu in Sales and Marketing Administrator.

  1. On the Field Translation tab, look for the Contact Person field you entered by looking for the ID. You will see a row of question marks (?????) in the Label field.
  2. Click Verify.
  3. On the dialog box that appears, select Use prog language (pro) in both group boxes.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Verify that the summary is correct and then click Finish.
  6. Go to View > Refresh to see the changes.

Exporting a File

  1. To export a file, click Export.
  2. On the dialog box that appears, click Browse to browse for the location you want to save the file, and give the name Export.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Select Translation as the type of file and Prog Language (pro) as the language.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Click OK on the information message confirming the export.

Importing a File

  1. To import a file, click Import.
  2. On the dialog box that appears, click Browse to browse for the exported file.
  3. Click Open.
  4. Make sure that both check boxes in the Options area and Languages area are selected.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Click Finish.
  7. Click OK on the information message confirming the import.

Copying Translations

  1. To copy translations, click Copy.
  2. On the dialog box that appears, select English (en) as the language to copy.
  3. Select To Existing Language and select Svenska (sv) on the drop-down menu.

Note: The languages that appear on the list may vary. You may select a language of your choice.

  1. Click Next.
  2. Click Finish.
  3. Click OK on the information message that appears.
