Package Part—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to set up the basic data required for running this particular functionality.

Sales Part

Windows:

  1. Enter Race Wheels as Sales Part and with XX58-110 as Sales Part No. Set the price per item to USD 500.

  1. Enter Wheel Balancing as Non-inventory Sales Part and with XX63-100 as Sales Part No. Set the price per hour to USD 40.

Main Exercise

Package Part

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to familiarize you with creating package parts and connecting components to them.

Windows:
Package Part

IFS Racing offers a kit of Race Wheels (XX58-110) and Wheel Balancing (XX63-100) for customers that need high performance wheels for competition.

  1. Enter the kit, XX-58-120, as a sales part and the description, Race Wheel Kit.
  2. Click the General tab and enter PCS as sales U/M and price U/M in the Unit of Measure area, either manually or by using the List of Values.

Note: If the tax calculation basis is the price including tax or the gross amount, select the Use Price Incl Tax check box.

  1. In the Grouping area, enter sales price group 40 and sales group 10 either manually or by using the List of Values.
  2. Select a VAT (tax) code or tax class, by using the List of Values, if applicable.
  3. Click the Package Components tab and select New (F5).
  4. Select a print code, by using the List of Values.
  5. Enter XX58-110 as component part and enter 4 units to be included in the package.
  6. Enter XX63-100 as component part and enter 1 unit to be included in the package.
  7. Compare the Components and the Package areas of the tab. What is the difference?
  8. Change the sales price or contribution margin rate percentage.
  9. If you have created your package part in a VAT tax regime, and the Use Price Incl Tax check box is selected in the General tab, you can change the value in the Sales Price Incl. Tax field, as well as view the effects on the net sales price and the contribution margin. 
  10. Return to the General tab and view the Price field. Has it changed?
