Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this initial exercise is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in Recruitment, which entails:

These Initial Exercises are intended for instructor use.

 

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity.  If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students.  Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site. 

Recruiting Employees

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the basic functionality of recruitment, which entails creating a personnel requisition, registering applications, and nominating and appointing candidates.

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown. (To view existing data, populate (F2).)

  1. Open the Personnel Requisition window and create a new record (F5) to enter a new requisition.
  2. Place the cursor in the Job ID field and select the job HRMGR, Manager of Human Resources, using the List of Values.
  3. Save the information (F12).
  4. Confirm the requisition by clicking Yes when you are prompted.
  5. Set the status to Approved by right-clicking.
  6. Open the Applicant window and create a new record (F5) to enter a new applicant.
  7. Enter the first and last name, and then save the information (F12).
  8. Open the Personnel Requisition/Job Candidates tab. Then create a new record to enter your external candidate, selecting External as the recruitment source. Use the List of Values to select your candidate. Save the information.
  9. Select your candidate and right-click, and then click Appoint Candidate.
  10. In the dialog box that appears, enter an employment type and click OK. When asked whether you want to enter data in the Employee window, click No.
  11. Click Yes to fulfill the personnel requisition. When asked whether you want to decline other candidates, click Yes.
