Copying Control Plans—Key Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Control Plan

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to view a control plan that can be copied.

Menu Path: Quality Management/Control Plan/Control Plan – Manufacturing
Quality Management/Control Plan/Control Plan – Purchasing
Quality Management/Control Plan/Control Plan – Inventory

  1. Open the Control Plan – Manufacturing window. Query for part no. 29-321, Camshaft. This control plan will be used in the Copying a Control Plan for Manufacturing exercise.
  2. Open the Control Plan – Purchasing window. Query for part no. 29-320, Valve Cover. This control plan will be used in the Copying a Control Plan for Purchasing exercise.
  3. Open the Control Plan – Inventory window. Query for part no. 29-521, Intake Valve. This control plan will be used in the  Copying a Control Plan for Inventory exercise.

Main Exercises

Copying a Control Plan for Manufacturing

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to copy a control plan for Manufacturing.
Menu Path: Quality Management/Control Plan/Control Plan – Manufacturing

  1. Open the Control Plan – Manufacturing window.
  2. Query for part no. 29-321, Camshaft.
  3. Right-click in the header and then click Copy Control Plan. Another window appears.
  4. Under Destination Revision, enter values in the following fields: Control Plan No, Site, Responsible Person, Part No, Part Revision, Routing Revision, Routing Alternative No, Phase In Date, and Phase Out Date.
  5. Click OK. A new control plan has been created.
  6. For each control plan line, add routing operation numbers from the List of Values.
  7. Save the information.

Copying a Control Plan for Purchasing

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to copy a control plan for Purchasing.
Menu Path: Quality Management/Control Plan/Control Plan – Purchasing

  1. Open the Control Plan – Purchasing window.
  2. Query for part no. 29-320, Valve Cover.
  3. Right-click in the header and then click Copy Control Plan. Another window appears.
  4. Under Destination Revision, enter values in the following fields: Control Plan No, Site, Responsible Person, Part No, Supplier No, Phase In Date, and Phase Out Date.
  5. Click OK. A new control plan has been created.

Copying a Control Plan for Inventory

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to copy a control plan for Inventory.
Menu Path: Quality Management/Control Plan/Control Plan – Inventory

  1. Open the Control Plan – Inventory window.
  2. Query for part no. 29-521, Intake Valve.
  3. Right-click in the header and then click Copy Control Plan. Another window appears.
  4. Under Destination Revision, enter values in the following fields: Control Plan No, Site, Responsible Person, Part NoPhase In Date, and Phase Out Date.
  5. Click OK. A new control plan has been created.
