Control Plans—Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Basic Data Setup

Viewing Manufactured Inventory Part

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to make sure the manufactured inventory part exists. 

Menu Path: Inventory/Inventory Part/Inventory Part

  1. Verify that the manufactured inventory part 29-321 exists on your site.

Viewing Supplier for Purchase Part

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to make sure your purchase part is connected to the supplier.

Menu Path: Purchasing/Purchase Part/Supplier for Purchase Part

  1. Verify that there exists a relation between part 29-OSP and supplier 29-001 on your site.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show how to enter inspection codes, norm types, and making control plans and analyses mandatory.

Menu Path: Quality Management/Basic Data for Quality Management

Entering Inspection Codes

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Inspection Codes tab, and populate (F2). Take a look at the previously defined inspection codes.
  3. Create a new record (F5).
  4. In the Inspection Code field, enter a short code for the new inspection code.
  5. Enter a description of the inspection code in the Inspection Code Description field.
  6. In the Inspection Type list, click either Percent or Quantity, to indicate whether the inspected quantity of parts should be specified as a percentage of the received quantity or as a fixed quantity.
  7. Enter the percentage or fixed quantity that should be inspected in the Inspection Percentage/Quantity field.
  8. Save the changes (F12).

Entering Norm Types

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Norm Type tab.
  3. Create a new record.
  4. Enter the required norm type, a description, and a unit of measure.
  5. Save the information.

Making Control Plan Mandatory on Purchase Part Level

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Part/Site/Purchased Part/Site tab.
  3. Search for the part 29-OSP with supplier 29-001 on your site.
  4. Select the Purchasing Control Plan check box.
  5. Save the information.

Making Create Analysis Mandatory on Purchase Part Level

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Part/Site/Purchased Part/Site tab.
  3. Search for the part 29-OSP with supplier 29-001 on your site.
  4. Select the Purchasing Create Analysis check box.
  5. Save the information.

Making Control Plan Mandatory on Manufactured Part Level

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Part/Site/Manufactured Part/Site tab.
  3. Search for the part 29-321 on your site.
  4. Select the Shop Order Control Plan check box.
  5. Save the information.

Making Create Analysis Mandatory on Manufactured Part Level

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Part/Site/Manufactured Part/Site tab.
  3. Search for the part 29-321 on your site.
  4. Select the Shop Order Create Analysis check box.
  5. Save the information.

Making Control Plan Mandatory on Part Catalog Level

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Part tab.
  3. Search for the part 29-321 on your site.
  4. Select the Shop Order Control Plan and Purchasing Control Plan check boxes.
  5. Save the information.

Note: It is recommended that you clear all the check boxes that were just selected on the part catalog level, so as to avoid running into problems in later exercises. During the training it is recommended that you have these parameters only on selected parts. 

Making Create Analysis Mandatory on Part Catalog Level

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Part tab.
  3. Search for the part 29-321 on your site.
  4. Select the Shop Order Create Analysis and Purchasing Create Analysis check boxes.
  5. Save the information.

Note: It is recommended that you clear all the check boxes that were just selected on the part catalog level, so as to avoid running into problems in later exercises. During the training it is recommended that you have these parameters only on selected parts.

  1. Open the Basic Data for Quality Management window.
  2. Click the Mandatory Site tab.
  3. Search for your site.
  4. Select the Shop Order Control Plan and Purchasing Control Plan check boxes.
