The Defining Project Access lesson is included in the Initiate Project chapter. It is usual that a project manager would enable project access and start defining project access when initiating the project. However, one may continue to define project access as the project plan is being established. A project structure is therefore required to do the exercises in this lesson.
One might consider doing the Defining Project Access lesson after doing the Building a Project Plan or Building a Project Plan by Copying Existing Projects or Subprojects lessons in the Establish Project Plan chapter.
The Defining Activity Planned Cost Driver and Defining Activity Progress Method lessons are included in the Establish Project Plan chapter. These lessons are about two settings on the activity level. To understand how they work, it is required that your project has progressed beyond establishing the project plan. You need to therefore understand how to assign resources or define project deliverables, and how to execute the activity before doing the exercises for this lessons.
In a teaching situation, it would be appropriate to do the Defining Activity Planned Cost Driver lesson after completing the Plan and Assign Resources and the Define Project Deliverables chapters. It would be appropriate to do the Defining Activity Progress Method after doing the Execute Activity chapter.
The Scheduling lesson in this chapter is an introduction to what a critical path analysis involves. This objective is achieved by manually scheduling simple projects. You should print slide 8 and do this example while following the slide show. In addition, print slide 17 and try to manually schedule this second example before looking at the correct results on slide 18.
