Initiate Project

This chapter covers how to create a project and enter project information, including how to associate a customer order with a project. This chapter also describes how to define and use project access.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. It would also be useful to have knowledge about the basic functionality in IFS/Customer Order.

Establish Project Plan

This chapter covers how to establish a project plan by building a project structure and creating activities. A project structure and activities can be created manually, or by copying existing projects or subprojects. This chapter also describes how to enter activity information, including how to define the activity planned cost driver and activity progress method.

Budget and Forecast

This chapter covers how to create project budgets and forecasts, copy budgets and forecasts, spread costs, review budgets and forecasts, create project snapshots and connect to them, approve budgets and forecasts, setting budget as active budget and defining budget control rules.

Plan and Schedule Project

 

This chapter covers how to plan and schedule a project plan using the scheduling calculation in IFS/Project. Alternatively the project can be exported and imported to the third party project planning tools Microsoft Project, Primavera Project Planner (P3) or Primavera Project Management Module (P5). You can build or update your project plan with the help of these project planning tools.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. You also need to be familiar with the project planning tools Microsoft Project and/or P3 and/or P5.

Forecast and Assign Resources

This chapter covers how to create project resource and forecasts, copy forecasts, spread hours, review forecasts, create resource snapshots and connect to them, approve forecasts and setting forecast as planned.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. It would also be useful to have knowledge about the basic functionality in IFS/Project Reporting.

Plan and Assign Resources

This chapter covers how to define resource groups and how to allocate them to project activities. This chapter also describes how to analyze the resource capacity for an activity, or one or more projects.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. It would also be useful to have knowledge about the basic functionality in IFS/Project Reporting.

Define Project Deliverables

This chapter covers how to plan with project deliverables including tasks, document packages, project demand, change orders and work orders. This chapter also includes how to plan an activity using activity estimates, which is useful when it is not possible to specify project deliverables. In addition, connecting documents to different business objects in your project is covered.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. It would also be useful to have knowledge about the basic functionality in IFS/Document Management, IFS/Purchasing, IFS/PDM-Configuration or IFS/Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, depending on which lessons you wish to do in this chapter.

Execute Tender Process

This chapter covers how to execute the tender process by obtaining information from prospective suppliers on how project needs can be met. From the project's procurement demands, add items to the project quotation list and create requests for quotations. These requests for quotations are handled in IFS/Purchasing so that information and quotations are received from selected suppliers. Update the activity’s planned cost from the best supplier price or the price from the approved supplier.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. You also need to be familiar with functionality in IFS/Purchasing.

Approve Project

This chapter covers how to approve your project and create a corresponding financial project in IFS/General Ledger. This chapter also covers how to start your project and which measures to take to initiate performance analysis. In addition, it is described how to set project baselines.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. It would also be useful to have knowledge about basic functionality in IFS/Accounting Rules and IFS/General Ledger.

Release Activity

This chapter describes the statuses and status changes a project activity can have. In particular it is described how to release activities so that work can be started. In addition, this chapter covers how cost and progress are reported to activities.

Execute Project Miscellaneous Demand

This chapter covers how to execute project miscellaneous demand. This chapter describes how to procure project demand through netting, purchasing, manufacturing with shop order, procurement through dynamic order processing and directly issuing from inventory. In addition, this chapter includes a basic lesson about project material requirements planning (PMRP).

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. You also need to be familiar with functionality in IFS/Purchasing, IFS/Inventory, IFS/Shop Order and IFS/Dynamic Order Processing, depending on which lessons you wish to do in this chapter.

Execute Manual Activity Connected Objects

This chapter covers how to execute objects which are manually connected to activities. Objects which can be manually connected to activities include tasks, document packages, change orders, purchase requisitions and orders, shop orders, DOP headers, work orders, plant design objects, material requisition lines and customer order lines.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. You also need to be familiar with functionality in IFS/Document Management, IFS/PDM-Configuration, IFS/Purchasing, IFS/Shop Order, IFS/Dynamic Order Processing, IFS/Preventive and Corrective Maintenance, IFS/Plant Design, IFS/Inventory or IFS/Customer Order, depending on which lessons you wish to do in this chapter.

Execute Activity

This chapter covers how to execute activities in general (not including executing project miscellaneous demand or manually connected objects, covered in the above chapters). This chapter covers how to report progress and estimate to complete. This chapter also describes how activities are updated through project reporting. In addition, this chapter will cover how used and actual costs and revenues are retrieved to the project.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge about how to work with IFS Applications. You also need to be familiar with functionality in IFS/Project Delivery, IFS/Project Reporting, IFS/Customer Order, IFS/Invoicing, IFS/Accounting Rules or IFS/General Ledger, depending on which lessons you wish to do in this chapter.

Analyze Project Performance

This chapter covers how to complete and close a project.
