Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is to introduce you to the basic functionality in Project Reporting, which entails:

These Initial Exercises are intended for instructor use.

 

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own company to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other company, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students.  Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own company. 

Register Time for a Project

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to register time spent on a project.

Windows:
Project Time Registration/Week

  1. Open the Project Time Registration window.
  2. Query for your employee (F3).
  3. Create a new record on the Week tab (F5). 
  4. Enter the short name for the desired activity, using the List of Values (F8) to look at available short names, e.g. 202.99.A991.
  5. Tab to the Report Code field and open the List of Values (F8). Enter MISC as the report code.
  6. Tab to the Report Code field and enter CONS as the report code.
  7. Enter eight hours for each working day of the week.
  8. Save the information (F12).

Register Cost for a Project

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to register cost for a project.

Windows:
Project Cost Registration/Personal

  1. Open the Project Cost Registration window. 
  2. Create a new record on the Personal tab (F5). The employee connected to the current user will automatically be entered in the Emp No and Employee Name fields.  
  3. Tab to the Short Name field. Enter the short name for the desired activity, using the List of Values (F8) to look at available short names, e.g. 202.99.A992.
  4. Tab to the Report Code field and open the List of Values (F8). Enter MISC sas the report code.
  5. Enter "1" for internal quantity. The same amount will automatically be entered as the sales quantity.
  6. Enter an internal price and a sales price.
  7. Save the information (F12).

Edit a Project Transaction

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to edit an existing project transaction.

Windows:
Project Transactions

  1. Open the Project Transactions window and populate it (F2). 
  2. Add a comment in the Internal Comments field.
  3. Change the price in the Internal Price field.
  4. Save the information (F12).

Create a Project  Invoice

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create a project invoice of the transactions you created in the initial exercise for 'Register time for a project'.

Windows:
Create Project Invoice

  1. Open the Create Project Invoice window and populate it (F2)

  2. Select the lines that correspond to the time and cost registrations you did earlier. 

  3. Select the menu choice Create Invoice

  4. Enter todays date as Invoice Date and click Ok

  5. Select Yes to view the preliminary invoice that has been created and make a printout preview.
