Course Description for Prepare Maintenance Visit

This course gives the student an understanding of how to prepare for a maintenance visit. The student will also be introduced to the history data that is retained in IFS/Vehicle Information Management (IFS/VIM) and get a quick introduction to the background jobs aimed at keeping the database healthy.

Define Maintenance Visit

This chapter is where you learn how to create manual maintenance orders used when planning a maintenance visit in advance.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed a basic navigation course in IFS Applications. In addition, you should have completed the Manage Maintenance Program course and the Manage Serialized Configuration course.

Plan Maintenance Visit

This chapter is where you learn how to prepare the maintenance order. Once the requirements of the maintenance visit are established and the scope defined, you can start detail planning on the maintenance order that was created from scratch. You will learn how to add tasks to a maintenance order, define operations for the task and to define sign off requirements for the maintenance order. You will also learn how to manage maintenance order material demands, i.e., view material requirements, initiate demands, reserve/unreserve demands and peg/unpeg demands.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed the previous course and the Operate Asset course.

Maintenance Visit Inspection and Induction

This chapter takes you through the different options available for supporting Depth/Heavy Maintenance Visits.

In the Generating Execution Logic Structure and Executing ELS Sequencing lessons, you will be introduced to the functionality for generating an Execution Logic Structure (ELS) for a maintenance order. From here, you will learn how to perform sequencing of the Execution Logic Orders (ELOs) that were created for the ELS and add or remove dependencies as per your requirements.

In the Releasing a Maintenance Order lesson you will learn how to release a maintenance order and understand the impact of this action.

In the Assigning Additional Tasks to the ELS Maintenance Order lesson you will learn how to add tasks to a released maintenance order and how it is distributed to the current work scope for the visit.
