Releasing a Maintenance Order—Exercises

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to release a maintenance order. Additional steps exist when working with maintenance orders having the Execution Logic Structure distribution type.

Release Maintenance Order

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and query (F3) for your maintenance order.
  2. Right-click, point to Status, and then click Release. The Release Maintenance Order dialog box opens.
  3. Enter a release date if the release date is to be a date before the system date.
  4. If standard sign off requirements have changed, the check box with this name will be selected. To update requirements, select the Update Sign Off Requirements check box.
  5. If a snapshot of the maintenance order is to be taken at this stage, select the Create Snapshot of Maintenance Order check box.
  6. Enter a description of the snapshot.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Verify that the status of the maintenance order has changed in the Status field.

For maintenance orders with the Execution Logic Structure distribution type:

  1. To view the created work order, right-click, and then click Work Order Execution Logic. The Work Order Execution Logic window opens with the work order structure that was created for the ELS.
  2. To process the work orders created for the ELS, continue with the Prepare and Plan WO for Execution Logic Structure exercise.
