Generating Execution Logic Structure—Exercises

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to set a maintenance order with the Execution Logic Structure distribution type to the Under Preparation status in order to generate the Execution Logic Structure (ELS) for this maintenance order. The generated ELS can then be viewed in a graphical object structure and Gantt chart. You will also learn how to view requirements for material, resources and tools-and-facilities for the generated ELS.

Set the Maintenance Order to Under Preparation

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and query (F3) for your maintenance order.
  2. Right-click, point to Status and then click Under Preparation.

View Execution Logic Structure

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and query (F3) for your maintenance order.
  2. Click the Exec. Logic tab.
  3. In the graphical object structure, observe the structure of the generated ELS. To view the entire structure, right-click on the top node (maintenance order) and then click Expand Descendants.
  4. View detailed information on the ELOs and operations in the adjoining tabs.
  5. Click the Gantt tab to obtain a graphical view of the ELS.

View Planned Demand

  1. Open the Maintenance Order window and query (F3) for your maintenance order.
  2. Click the Exec. Logic tab.
  3. In the graphical object structure, select the structure level in the ELS for which you want to view material requirements and/or the rolled up requirements for resources and tools-and-facilities.
  4. Click the Material Required tab to view requirements for material for the indicated level.
  5. Click the Demand Roll Up sub tab and select a valid period type, i.e., Date, Week or Month.
  6. The requirements for resources and tool-and-facilities can be viewed in the Resources and Tools and Facilities sub tabs respectively.
