Prepare Maintenance Visit (ELS)—Basic Data and Requirements Exercise
Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to define
the Execution Logic Structure (ELS) template that will be used when working with
ELS/ELO (Execution Logic Order) structures.
In this lesson you will learn how to:
- Define grouping criteria for your product model and grouping ID
- Copy similar grouping criteria and modify it to fit your requirements
- Complete grouping criteria and generate the ELS template
- Add sorting to the basic data of selected grouping
criteria
- Extend the sorting values to the ELS and grouping nodes in the template
- Generate sorting based on dependencies (on the ELS node level) defined in the
Gantt
- Copy information from one grouping template to another and modify it to fit your requirements
- Start over with the definition of grouping criteria for an existing ELS template
- Delete a grouping ID and all its information from the system
- Activate an ELS template, thereby making it valid for connection to maintenance orders
- Set an ELS template that should not be used anymore obsolete
Windows:
Define Execution Logic Structure Template
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and create a new record (F5).
- Enter your product and model numbers in the relevant fields.
- Specify a unique grouping ID and a description for it.
- Save the information (F12).
- The grouping elements are displayed in the Grouping Criteria
tab.
- Select the Group By check box for the grouping elements that the
ELS template is to be grouped by.
- In the Sequence By field, enter the sequence in which the nodes are
to be generated.
- In the Level in Structure field, enter at which level of the ELS
a grouping element should be created.
- Save the information (F12).
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and create a new record (F5).
- Enter your product and model numbers in the relevant fields.
- Specify a unique grouping ID and a description for it.
- Save the information (F12).
- Right-click and click Copy Grouping Criteria.
- Specify the product model and grouping ID from which the information is
to be copied.
- If you want the copying to be done as a background job, select the available
check box.
- Click OK.
- If needed, modify the ELS sequencing to suit your requirements.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Right-click and click Complete Grouping Criteria.
- Click OK. The ELS template will be generated as a background job
if the Generate ELS template in background check box was selected.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Click the Sorting per
Grouping Criteria tab and then click the relevant sub tab.
- Execution Phase
- Function Number
- Competence
- Location
- Zone
- In the Execution Logic Sorting field for
the relevant grouping element, enter the required sorting value.
- Save the information (F12).
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template
window and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- To extend all defined sorting on the template,
right-click in the header of the window and
then click Spread All Sorting on ELS Nodes.
- To extend all sorting
defined for a particular grouping criteria on the template, click the
Sorting per Grouping Criteria tab and then
click the relevant sub tab.
- Execution Phase
- Function Number
- Competence
- Location
- Zone
- Right-click and click Spread Sorting on ELS
Nodes.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Click the Gantt tab.
- Expand details to view the grouping nodes in the structure.
- Activate the Create Dependencies Mode.
- Now you can draw dependencies between the different nodes thereby creating
a logical sequence for working.
- To remove a dependency, simply right-click on the dependency arrow, and
then click Delete Link.
- Open the Define Execution
Logic Structure Template window and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Enter, verify or modify the sequencing for ELS
nodes in the Gantt tab. (Refer above
exercise.)
- Right-click in the header of the window and then
click Generate Sequencing as Sorting.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Click the ELS Sequencing tab.
- In the Predecessor field, enter the predecessor for a grouping node
by selecting a valid value from the List of Values.
- Save the information (F12).
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Click the ELS Sequencing tab or the ELS Nodes
tab.
- Select the node ID for which a predecessor or successor relationship is
to be defined, right-click, and then click Define Predecessors and Successors.
- Select the Predecessor or Successor check box for node ID
that is to be a predecessor or successor to the selected node ID.
- Click Save and Close if you have finished defining relationships.
If not, click Apply to save the current changes, and then select another
node id to work with.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Right-click and click Redefine Grouping Criteria.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Right-click and click Remove Grouping.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Right-click, point to Status, and and click Activate.
- Open the Define Execution Logic Structure Template window
and query (F3) for your grouping ID.
- Right-click, point to Status, and then click Set Obsolete.
