Handling Standard Planned Item with PMRP—Extended Exercises
Define Standard Planned Item Parts
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to setup
standard planned item components in manufacturing. This data will be used later
in the exercise.
Windows:
Inventory Part
Product Structure
Define Structure With Standard Planned Item Components in Manufacturing
- Open the
Inventory Part window. Populate parts in your
primary site.
- Copy part 90-270 to a new part 90-270A. Set 90-270A as manufactured part
with planning method A.
- Open
Product Structure window. Populate structures in your
primary site.
- Select part 90-270A from the list at the header.
- Define the following parts as the components:

- Part 90-271 and 90-272 already exist in the system. Save the structure.
Perform PMRP
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create
demand in the project for standard planned item parent part. Perform PMRP
process then query the result.

Define Project Demand for the Parent Part
- Open the
Project window. Query for your project
XX100.
- Click
Demand/Misc. Parts tab.
- Enter a new line, for part 90-270A
- Select activity XXA100 from the List of Value in Activity Seq
field.
- Define the demand as follow:

- Save the record.
Perform PMRP
- Open the
Perform PMRP window.
- Enter your primary site XX in the Site field.
- Enter project XX100 in the Project ID field.
- Option Start MRP process once PMRP is complete is left blank.
- Click OK.
- Open Background Jobs window and populate the window.
- Wait until the State for your PMRP process you submit in step 4
becomes Ready. The window does not refresh by itself. You must
repopulate the window to see the state updates.
Query the PMRP Results
- Open the PMRP Part Information window.
- Populate records in your primary site XX.
- Select part 90-270 from the list at the header.
- Note that Project ID = XX100 and activity ID = XXA100 at the header.
- Click on Gross Requirements tab.
- You can see a line with demand quantity of 1 with MRP Source =
Project Misc Demand.
- Also there is a line with supply quantity of 1 with MRP Source =
MRP. This means PMRP saw the demand from Project XX100 Activity
XXA100 and created supply for it.
- Open the MRP Part Information window.
- Populate records in your primary site XX.
- Select part 90-271 from the list at the header.
- Click on Gross Requirements tab.
- There are no supply and demand displayed. This is because MRP process
has not been executed yet.
Perform MRP
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to perform MRP
process after PMRP is finished. Then query the MRP result from the query window
to see the standard item part is planned.
Windows:
Perform Site MRP
MRP Part Information
Perform MRP after PMRP finished
- Open the
Perform Site MRP window.
- Enter your primary site XX in the Site ID field.
- Click OK.
- After the background job is completed open
MRP Part
Information window.
- Populate your primary site in this window.
- Select part 90-271 from the list at the header.
- There is a line with demand quantity of 10 with MRP Source = Material
Transfer Requisition, Order No = XX100, where XX100 is your project
identity, parent part 90-270A.
- This means during the process MRP saw demands from project XX100 for the
standard item components 90-271.
- There is also a line with supply quantity 10 with MRP Source = MRP
Buy. MRP created new purchase requisition to supply the demand.
- Part 90-272 is not listed in the window because it has planning method N.
Therefore it is not planned by MRP.
Note: You can select Start MRP Process once PMRP is Completed
option when performing PMRP process to let the system execute MRP immediately
after PMRP process is finished.
