Target Audience

This course is designed primarily for employees working within a manufacturing organization using the make-to-order dynamic order processing application. It is most suitable for persons responsible for managing production resources needed to fulfill customer orders.

Make To Order—Dynamic Order Processing—Introductory Lesson

This chapter provides a high-level description of functionality in IFS/Make To Order and introduces you to important terms and concepts used in MTO/Dynamic Order Processing. It also contains an overview of the MTO manufacturing data (Overview of MTO Manufacturing Data lesson) used to set up the parts and other data needed to complete the remaining chapters in this course. For instructor led courses, you should first complete the Initial Exercise chapter as a further introduction before students set up their own data.

Prerequisites

Dynamic Order Processing (DOP) is advanced functionality that is not installed at all customer sites. Before beginning the lessons in this chapter, you should have a basic understanding of manufacturing concepts and the basic functionality of IFS/Shop Order, IFS/Manufacturing Standards, IFS/Customer Orders, and IFS/Inventory. Some knowledge of IFS/Constraint Based Scheduling and IFS/Costing would also be useful.

Chapter Length

The estimated time to complete this chapter is 2 hours. The introductory presentation should take about 20 minutes to complete, while the data setup lesson should take about 90 to 100 minutes.

Target Audience

This chapter was designed primarily for anyone interested in an overview of Make To Order—Dynamic Order Processing. It also provides background information to anyone completing the remaining chapters of this course. It is most suitable for persons responsible for managing production resources needed to fulfill customer orders.

Make To Order—Initial Exercises

This chapter provides an overview of functionality in IFS/Make To Order using data installed with the training database. It consists of two separate exercise files, which should be completed in sequence. These exercises are intended primarily for instructor led courses, and should be completed before having students set up their own data in the Introductory Lesson above. Self-directed learners can also complete these initial exercises, but they must first complete the Overview of the MTO Manufacturing Data exercise to set up their own data for these exercises. This data will be used in the remaining chapters.
