Job Program—Key Exercises
Required Data
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the required data
that you will need for the exercises below.

- Open the Separate Standard Job or
Route Standard Job window.
- Create a new record (F5).
- Enter an appropriate standard job ID, revision and
description.
- Save the new record (F12).

Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to show you how to create and
prepare separate a job program. The job program is used as a
template to
generate complex preventive
maintenance programs.
Windows:
Job Program
- Open the
Job Program window.
- Create a new record (F5).
- Enter an appropriate job program ID, revision and
description.
- Save the new record (F12).
- Click the Standard Jobs table.
- Click New, and enter a standard job ID, you can
select it here using the List of Values (F8).
- Save the new standard job row (F12).
Note: It is useful to use a program type to categorize your job
programs. The standard jobs can be added one by one or in batch using the next
exercise.
- Open the
Job Program window.
- Query for the job program that you entered in the
required exercise above.
- Click on the Standard Jobs table, right-click, and then click
Add Std Jobs by Category
- Enter the appropriate identityties for a category combination using the
List button.
- Click Query.
- Select the Standard Jobs you want to copy to the job program.
- Click Return.
- Click on the Job Program window, right-click, and then click
Job Program Status/Active.
Note: Job programs are created in status Preliminary and have to be
prepared. Only Active job programs can be used to generate PM Actions in the
next exercise. An active job program canot be updated, you have to create a new
revision. When the new revision is set to "Active" the previous revision will be
set to "Obsolete".
Note: This is a difficult exercise
that has to be mastered by the responsible with generating complex maintenance
programs from templates like standard jobs and job programs.
- Open the
Job Program window.
- Query for the job program that you entered in the
required exercise above.
- Click on the Job Program window, right-click, and then click
Add
Job Program to Object.
- The first detail table(source) is populated with
the standard jobs of the job program, divided in Separate and Route tabs.
- Enter an object ID using the List of Values (F8).
- The second detail table(destination) is populated
with the existing PM Actions for the object.
- The Simulate button is enabled only
when all standard jobs have enough information like Maint.Organization,
Action and Route ID. Otherwize, default values can be entered using the List of Values (F8).
- Click Simulate. Temporary PM numbers
are created from the standard jobs depending on their interval and the
Merge on PM checkbox.
- Each standard job is marked with the destination
PM number. This can be manually adjusted if you want to change the
destination of a standard job.
- When you are pleased with the simulation rezults
click Generate and real PM numbers will be generated.
Note: A job program can be applied
several times on the same object or several job programs can be applied on the
same object, using merge or not. The Program Used on Object
checkbox will be warning against applying a job program twice on the same
object.
