Define OEE General Data—BDR Exercises

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of these exercises is to show you how to enter the basic data required for production event reporting and analysis.

Setup OEE

IMPORTANT !
In order to work entirely with your own data, please replace the letters XX in the exercises below, with your initials.

Define Event Types

  1. Open the Setup OEE window.
  2. Click the link to open the Define Event Types window.
  3. In the Stop Event Type table click Add to create a new record.
  4. In the ID field, enter UPLS-XX as the unique code for this stop event type.
  5. In the Description field, enter a description of the stop event type, e.g. Unplanned Stop.
  6. In the System Stop Event Type field select the value Unplanned Stop in the list.
  7. Select the Active check box against the new record to activate the stop event type. Only active stop event types can be used in the system.
  8. Save the information.
  9. In the Log Event Type table click Add to create a new record.
  10. In the ID field, enter SL-XX as the unique code for this log event type.
  11. In the Description field, enter a description of the log event type, e.g. Shift Log.
  12. In the System Log Event Type field select the value Log Note in the list.
  13. Select the Active check box against the new record to activate the log event type. Only active log event types can be used in the system.
  14. Save the information.

Define Production Unit

Enter a new Production unit:

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Define Production Units window.
  2. Click Create New on the toolbar to create a new production unit.
  3. In the Unit ID field enter PU-XX as the unique code for this production unit.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the production unit, e.g. Production Unit XX.
  5. In the Follow Up Type field, select the value APQ in the list.
  6. In the Group field, use the List of Values to select the group that you want to connect to the production unit.
  7. In the Nominal Runtime field, enter the number of hours the production unit is planned to run per day.
  8. In the Unit of Measure field, use the List of Values to select the measuring unit in which the production unit produces.
  9. In the Top Objects field, use the List of Values to select the object(s) that should serve as the top object to report against in the equipment structure.
  10. Save the information.

Enter a new production unit overview:

  1. Follow step 1-4 in the previous exercise.
  2. In the Follow Up Type field, select the value Overview in the list.
  3. Continue with steps 6-8 in the previous exercise.
  4. In the Sub Production Units field, use the List of Values to select one or more production units that you want to connect into your production unit overview.
  5. Save the information.

Define Actions

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Define Actions window.
  2. Click Create New on the toolbar to create a new record.
  3. In the ID field, enter REP-XX as the unique code for this action.
  4. In the Name field, enter a description of the action, e.g. Repair.
  5. Select the Active check box against the new record to activate the action code. Only active action codes can be used in the system.
  6. Save the information.

Define Products and Quality

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Define Products window.
  2. Click Create New on the toolbar to create a new record.
  3. In the Product ID field, enter P-XX as the unique code for this product.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the product, e.g. Product XX.
  5. Save the information.
  6. In the Products and Qualities field, click the link to open the Define Products and Qualities window.
  7. Click Add to create a new record.
  8. In the Quality ID field, enter Q-XX as the unique code for this quality.
  9. In the Description field, enter a description of the quality, e.g. Quality XX.
  10. Select the Active check box against the new record to activate the quality code to be used in the system.
  11. Save the information.

Connect Production Units and Products

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Connect Production Units and Products window.
  2. If required enter P in the Filter Products field to reduce the amount of products in the table.
  3. In the Show Production Units with field select if you want to view all the production units or just the production units of the follow up type APQ.
  4. In the table displayed place a tick against the products that should be valid for a production unit.
  5. Save the information.

Define Loss Cause Groups

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Define Loss Cause Groups window.
  2. Click Create New on the toolbar to create a new record.
  3. In the Loss Cause Group ID field, enter QA-XX as the unique code for this loss cause group.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the loss cause group, e.g. Quality Problem XX.
  5. In the Type field, select the value Loss Cause Group Internal in the list.
  6. Save the information.

Define Loss Causes

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Define Loss Causes window.
  2. Click Create New on the toolbar to create a new record.
  3. In the Loss Cause ID field, enter MAT-XX as the unique code for this loss cause.
  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the loss cause, e.g. Bad Material XX.
  5. In the Loss Cause Group field, select the value Quality Problem XX in the list.
  6. Save the information.

Connect Production Units and Loss Causes

  1. In the Setup OEE window, click the link to open the Connect Production Units and Loss Causes window.
  2. If required enter QA-XX in the Show Loss Cause Group field to reduce the amount of loss causes in the table.
  3. In the Show Production Units with field select if all production units are wanted or just the production units of follow up type APQ.
  4. In the table displayed place a tick against the loss causes that should be valid for a production unit.
  5. Save the information.
