Operational Entry—Basic Data and Requirements Exercise

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn about the basic data used when defining an Operational Plan and when entering operational data based on actual use of the serials.

Operational Plan Description

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to register generic operational plan descriptions

Windows:
Operations and Fault Basic Data

  1. Open the Oper Plan Desc tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5) and enter your own description number, n000 and a description for training sorties with your A/C type.
  3. Save the information (F12).

User Authorization Deferrals

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to grant access to the user (yourself), which will allows you to approve a fault deferral.

Windows:

  1. Open the User Auth. Deferrals tab.
  2. Populate (F2) or query (F3) for your own user ID. 
  3. Examine the list of products or models that comes up.
  4. Verify that your Product and Model combination has been defined. If not, register and save the information (F12).

Fault Code

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Fault Code definitions used for identification of faults.

Windows:

  1. Open the Fault Code tab.
  2. Populate (F2) and examine the data that has been registered.
  3. Create new record (F5) and specify your own fault code for Oil leakage. Use your n as a prefix.
  4. Save the information (F12).

Fault Function

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Fault Function as a tool to locate a fault.

  1. Open the Fault Function tab.
  2. Populate (F2) and examine the data that has been registered.
  3. Create a new record (F5) and specify a connection between Oil Leakage (use your fault code) and malfunction of the Shock Absorber (Function Number = 3226) of the product number 7X7 and model number 747-90n.
  4. Save the information (F12).

Fault Action Code

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Fault Action Codes to describe what has been done when a failure has been identified.

  1. Open the Fault Action Code tab.
  2. Populate and examine the fault codes that have been registered.

Fault Category

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Fault Category.

Windows:

  1. Open the Fault Category tab.
  2. Populate to see existing categories.
  3. Create new record and specify your private fault category as nCAT and description as My Fault Category
  4. Leave the check boxes unchecked for the moment. 
  5. Save the information (F12).

Fault Mode

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Fault Mode definitions. The exercises includes registration of a fault mode in case there is a hydraulic oil leakage from the Landing Gear.

Windows:

  1. Open the Fault Mode tab.
  2. Create a new record and select 7X7 as the Product Number and 747-90n as the Model Number.
  3. Enter nHDLEAK - Hydraulic Oil Leakage as the Fault Mode and select Both as the Fault Mode Type (can also be a symptom and/or a discovery).
  4. Enter 3200 as the Function Number, 3220 as the Sub Function Number and 3226 (Shock Absorber) as the Bottom Function Number.
  5. Enter LEAK as the Fault Code, and save the information (F12).

Fault Cause

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Fault Cause definitions. Data have been predefined.

Condition Category

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Condition Category definitions. Data have been predefined.

Windows:

  1. Open the Condition Category tab.
  2. Populate and examine the data that has been registered.

Person Category

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to understand the meaning of Person Category definitions.

  1. Open the Person Category tab.
  2. Populate and examine the data that has been registered.
  3. Create a new record and enter your own Person Category: nMYCAT - My Category.
  4. Save the information (F12).

Person Category per Person

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to connect a person category (created in the above exercise) to your user ID, and set it as your default person category.

Windows:

  1. Click the Category per Person tab.
  2. Query (F3) for your person ID or your user Identification.
  3. Create a new record and use the List of Values to select your person category nMYCAT - My Category.
  4. Save the information (F12).
  5. Select the row, right-click and click Set Default Category to define your default person category.
