Required Data

Owner Organization

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the required data for the Operator Information per Owner Organization exercise below.

Windows:
Owners

  1. Open the Owners window and create a new record (F5).
  2. In the Owner ID field, enter FA.
  3. In the Name field, enter FANTASY AIRLINES.
  4. Enter an association number, default language and country if needed and then save the information (F12). To view/enter additional information for the owner organization, right-click on the record and click Details.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn about the basic data used when defining a flight log.

Deviation and Delay Reasons

Purpose: When entering information about a vehicle on a flight log, it can be that the vehicle has arrived at a different location than planned or is delayed and arrives later than planned. The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register the deviation and delay reasons that can be used to identify such operational disruptions.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Deviation and Delay Reasons tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Reason Code field, enter EMERGENCY.
  4. In the Reason Description field, enter Emergency Landings as a description of the deviation code.
  5. Save the information (F12).
  6. Create a new record (F5) once again and enter the delay reason TRAFFIC.
  7. In the Reason Description field, enter Air Traffic as a description of the delay reason.
  8. Save the information (F12).

Operational Cancellation Causes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register operational cancellation causes. These causes will be used if a flight in the flight log is cancelled.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Operational Cancellation Cause tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Operational Cancellation Cause field, enter WEATHER.
  4. In the Operational Cancellation Cause Description field, enter Weather Conditions as a description of the cancellation cause.
  5. Save the information (F12).

Flight Servicing Types

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register pre- and post-flight activities. Pre- and post-flight activities are activities reported to be performed prior to or after a flight. These activities can be reported against a specific flight or for a flight log in general.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Flight Servicing Type tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Flight Servicing Type field, enter DE-ICING.
  4. In the Flight Servicing Type Description field, enter De-icing of Aircraft as a description of the flight servicing activity.
  5. Save the information (F12).

Operator Information per Owner Organization

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register an operator designator per owner organization. Operator designators are codes used to identify an airline for commercial purposes including reservations, timetables, tariffs, air waybills and in airline interline telecommunications. The operator designator defined in this exercise will be used when auto-generating operational plan IDs (flight numbers) for the valid flight logs. In addition, through this exercise, you will learn how to indicate the number of days voided and closed flight logs for an owner organization are to remain in the Flight Log window before being moved to history.

Prerequisite: The owner organization FANTASY AIRLINES must be defined in IFS/Enterprise.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Operator Information tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Owner Organization field, use the List of Values to select the owner organization FA (FANTASY AIRLINES).
  4. In the Operator Designator field, enter the operator designator FA for the selected owner organization.
  5. In the Hist. Flight Logs After No Of Days field, keep the default value. The value zero (0) indicates that voided and closed flight logs for the owner organization should be moved as soon as the background job is executed.
  6. Save the information (F12).

Crew Training Levels

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register crew training levels. When entering crew information on a flight log, you can define the training level of the persons working on a flight.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Crew Training Level tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Training Level field, enter PILOT.
  4. In the Training Level Description field, enter Basic Pilot Training as a description of the training level.
  5. Save the information (F12).
  6. Create a new record (F5) once again and enter the training level ATTENDANT.
  7. In the Training Level Description field, enter Basic Flight Attendant Training as a description of the training level.
  8. Save the information (F12).

Crew Time Types

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register time types that are valid for the crew. Crew time types are used when entering crew information on a flight log. These time types can be used to indicate how the crew time for each crew member has been split between different types of time during a flight.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Crew Time Type tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Crew Time Type field, enter INSTRUMENT.
  4. In the Crew Time Type Description field, enter Instrument Flying as a description of the time type.
  5. In the Default Time Unit field, enter the time unit that is to be used as the default time unit when a new record is created for crew time on a flight. Use the List of Values to select h for Hour in this field.
  6. Save the information (F12).
  7. Create a new record (F5) once again and enter the time type MANUAL.
  8. In the Crew Time Type Description field, enter Manual Flying as a description of the crew time type.
  9. Save the information (F12).

Operational Task Types

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to learn how to register different types of operational tasks. Operational tasks are used when entering crew information on a flight log as a means of indicating which tasks each crew member has performed during a flight.

Windows:
Flight Log Basic Data

  1. Open the Flight Log Basic Data window and click the Operational Task Type tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Operational Task Type field, enter 01.
  4. In the Operational Task Type Description field, enter Unspecified Flying as a description of the operational task type.
  5. In the Default Time Unit field, enter the time unit that is to be used as the default time unit when a new record is created for an operational task on a flight. Use the List of Values to select h for Hour in this field.
  6. Save the information (F12).
  7. Create a new record (F5) once again and enter the operational task type 52.
  8. In the Operational Task Type Description field, enter Safety Instructions as a description of the operational task type.
  9. Save the information (F12).
