Basic Data Setup

Create Inventory Locations

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up inventory locations that can be used to illustrate the issue hierarchy at production lines.

Windows:
Inventory Locations

  1. Open the Inventory Locations window.
  2. Create two new records, and enter the values shown in the table below.

Location Group Choose a location group where the inventory location type is Picking. Choose a location group where the inventory location type is Floor.
  1. Save the records.

Create Inventory Parts

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create inventory parts that will be used by superflush.

Windows:
Inventory Part

  1. Create new inventory parts for your site, and enter the values shown in the table below.
Inventory Part: 61–902 61–950

  1. Save the records.

Create a Product Structure

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create work centers as a part of creating a product structure.

Windows:
Product Structure

  1. Open the Product Structure window.
  2. Create a product structure in which Part 61–902 contains one piece of Part 61–950. Make Part 61–950 a phantom-consumed part.
  3. Make the structure buildable.
  4. Create a product structure in which Part 61–950 contains one piece of Part 61–999.
  5. Make the structure buildable.

Connect Part to a Production Line

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to add a part to the production line.

Windows:
Production Line

  1. Populate production line 900, Production line for rims.
  2. On the Part tab, add Part 61–902.

Required Data

Adjust Inventory at Locations 

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up inventory at some locations that can be used to illustrate the issue hierarchy at production lines

Windows:

Receive Inventory Part

  1. Make sure that the inventory level is zero at locations WCO, WCI, RLO, and RLI for Part 61–999.
  2. Open the Receive Inventory Part window.
  3. Receive 25 of Part 61–999 into the Pick location and 5 into the Floor location.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to illustrate the issue hierarchy at production lines.

Production Receipts

Report Production Issue Hierarchy

  1. Generate a production schedule for 10 pcs. Part 61–901. Make sure that you have about 10 schedules with 10 pcs. on each.
  2. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 10 pcs. Select the Report Point check box. Specify immediate backflush  and Report Point 10.
  3. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 10 pcs. Select the Complete check box.
  4. Open the Issue Inventory Part window, and check the results.
  5. Make sure that inventory is zero on the Pick and Floor locations for Part 61–999. 
  6. Open the Receive Inventory Part window.
  7. Receive 25 of Part 61–999 into location RLO, and receive 5 into location RLI.
  8. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 10 pcs. Select the Report Point check box. Specify immediate backflush  and Report Point 10.
  9. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 10 pcs. Select the Complete check box.
  10. Receive 25 of Part 61–999 into location RLI, and receive 5 into location WCI
  11. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 10 pcs. Select the Report Point check box. Specify immediate backflush  and Report Point 10.
  12. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 10 pcs. Select the Complete check box.
  13. In which location is Part 61–901 stored?

Superbackflush

  1. Make sure that there are at least  25 pcs of Part 61–999 in the RLI location.
  2. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for 15 pcs. Select the Report Point check box. Specify immediate backflush  and Report Point 10.
  3. Open the Issue Inventory Part window. Query for 61-999 and note the changes in inventory level.

Follow up and Move to History

  1. Open the Report Point Balance by Line Part window.
  2. Populate Part 61–902, and note the value in Report Point Balance.
  3. Right-click and then click Report Production Receipt for the last 15 pcs. from the previous exercise. Select the Complete check box.
  4. Populate Part 61–902, and note the value in Report Point Balance.
  5. Open the Production Schedule by Line window. 
  6. Populate the window for Production Line 900.
  7. Open the Remove Past Due Line Schedule window.
  8. Select your site and Production Line 900.
  9. Populate the window for Production Line 900.
  10. Open the Production Receipts window.
  11. Select a couple of lines, right-click and then click Move to History.
