Kanban Execution—Key Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Required Data

Kanban Circuits

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you the required data that is used in the exercises below.

  1. Open the Kanban Circuits window and query for RW100.
  2. Make sure the circuit is Active, there are deployed Kanban cards and the signal type is Electronic.
  3. Make sure the related inventory part has a Schedule supply type and an inventory value.
  4. Make sure this part has a manufacturing structure with RW200 as the component.
  5. Open the Kanban Circuits window and query for RW200.
  6. Make sure the circuit is Active, there are deployed Kanban cards and the signal type is Electronic.
  7. Make sure the related inventory part has an Order supply type.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to demonstrate electronic Kanban replenishment and receipt function.

Production Electronic Replenishment and Receipt

  1. Open the Kanban Circuits window and query for RW100.
  2. Go to the Cards tab and make note of a card no that is In Circulation.
  3. Open the Kanban Replenishment Request window.
  4. Enter the card no and click OK.  A dialog box listing the production line created opens.  Click OK.
  5. Open the Production Schedule by Line Part window and query for the production line part RW100.
  6. Note a production line was created for the quantity of the Kanban.
  7. Open the Kanban Report Production Receipt window.
  8. Enter the card no and press OK.
  9. Open the Production Schedule by Line Part window and query for the production line part RW100.
  10. Note that in the production line, the quantity complete has increased and the quantity remaining has decreased by the quantity of the Kanban.
  11. Open the Kanban Electronic Trans History and query for the card no.
  12. The replenishment and receipt are registered as transactions.

Supplier Electronic Replenishment and Receipt

  1. Open the Kanban Circuits window and query for RW200.
  2. Go to the Cards tab and make note of a card no that is In Circulation.
  3. Open the Kanban Replenishment Request window.
  4. Enter the card no and click OK.  A dialog box listing the purchase order line created opens.  Make a note of this order and click OK.
  5. Open the Purchase Order window and query for the purchase order.
  6. Note that a purchase order line was created for the quantity of the Kanban.
  7. Right-click and then click Release.
  8. Open the Kanban Report Supplier Receipt window.
  9. Enter the card no and click OK.  A dialog box listing the purchase order receipt created opens.  Make a note of this receipt and click OK.
  10. Open the Purchase Order Receipt window and query for the receipt. Note the receipt was for the quantity of the Kanban.
  11. Open the Kanban Electronic Trans History and query for the card no.
  12. The replenishment and receipt are registered as transactions.
