Setting Up Condition Codes—Exercises

Main Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show you how to enter the basic data needed for using condition codes within IFS Applications.

Windows:
Part Basic Data

Enter Condition Codes

  1. Click the Condition Codes tab.
  2. Populate the tab to view the existing condition codes. Decide if the existing codes fit your needs. Add one or more condition codes, if needed, following steps 3–8 below.

Note: If the existing codes are appropriate, you can optionally complete the following steps to understand the process of adding condition codes, and then delete the new condition code record(s). Once a part record is linked to a condition code, the condition code cannot be deleted. If multiple people using the same database enter their own condition codes, a large number of unnecessary condition codes could soon accumulate.

  3. Create a new record line.
  4. Using no more than 10 alphanumeric characters, enter a condition code in the Condition Code field. Examples: New, Remanuf, Used, Unservice.
  5. Enter an appropriate description in the Condition Code Description field. Examples: New, Remanufactured, Used, Unserviceable
  6. In the Condition Code Type list, select whether or not the code is the default. If you select Default Condition Code, and another code is already defined as the default, the original default code will change to Not Default Condition Code when you save the new record.
  7. Optionally, in the Part Availability Control field, use the List of Values to select an Availability Control ID.
  8. Save the record.
  9. Repeat steps 3–8 to enter additional condition codes, if necessary.

Note: If you are doing this exercise only to understand the process, remember to delete your record and verify that the original default condition code is again set to be the default.
