Basic Data Setup

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Enter Inventory Part and Inventory Location

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the basic data required for running this functionality.

  1. Enter the Car Body Race inventory part with Part ID XX78–461. The part should have an estimated material cost of 20 USD.
  2. Enter a picking location on your site.

  1. Receive 100 pieces of Part XX78–461 into your picking inventory location.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to show you how to update the inventory part statistics and to analyze inventory values and transactions.

Handle Transactions and Postings

  1. Use the Aggregate Inventory Transactions per Period window to update your site.
  2. Open the On Hand Develop per Period window, and analyze the result. What is displayed as ending inventory?
  3. In the Issue Inventory Part window, manually issue 20 pieces of Part XX78–461.
  4. Update the inventory part statistics for your site again. What is displayed in the On Hand Develop per Period window?
  5. Review your transaction and postings in the Inventory Transaction History window. What kind of information is displayed on the General and Accounting tabs?
