Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality for Counting, which entails:

These initial exercises are intended for instructor use.

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Create and Print Count Report

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality of how to prepare planned counting. Learn how to prepare counting using the Create Count Report window and to print out the count report in the Archived Reports window.

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps.

  1. Generate a count report using the Create Count Report window. Indicate site 1 in the Site field. 
  2. Under Part No, indicate Parts 62-200 and 62-202 in the From: and To: fields. Clear the Only Print Parts with Cyclic Counting check box in the
  3. Archived Reports window.
  4. Click OK.

Report Counting Results

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality of how to perform planned counting. Learn how to perform inventory counting using the Count per Count Report to report the counting results.

Prerequisites: A count report must have been created.

Windows:
Count per Count Report

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps.

  1. Open the Count per Count Report window, and retrieve the count report. 
  2. Specify how many parts there were at the inventory location in the Quantity Counted column for part 62-200.
  3. Select the line for part 62-201, right-click, and then click Count Without Differences. The line is updated with the system quantity.
  4. Enter a counted quantity that is outside the established control values (e.g., 20 parts less) for part 62-202.
  5. Save your changes.

Complete Planned Counting

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to introduce you to the basic functionality of how to complete planned counting.

Prerequisites: A count report with counting results.

Windows:
Count per Count Report
Count Result per Count Report
Count Results

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps.

  1. In the Count per Count Report window, select the first line you counted, right-click, and then click Confirm to confirm the count result.
  2. Right-click and then click Confirm Counted Lines in the window header.
  3. Populate or query for the count report in the Count Result Per Count Report window.
  4. In the header area of this window, right-click and then click Print Control Report to print the control report.
  5. Approve the rejected line
  6. Open the Count Results window, search for your count report, and analyze the result.
