Defining Modifications—Exercises
Main Exercise
Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to learn how to
register and do modification planning.
Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to plan a
modification of your Nose Landing Gear. A manufacturer Bulletin (With ID nNEWAXL)
says that due to corrosion problems, an
improved revision 1 of the Wheel Axle should replace the present * revision. For your part revision this modification is mandatory and has to be completed within
600 FHR or at latest 6 months from now.
You require 1 week task forewarning,
and the modification requires one day in workshop. After modification,
there should be one post-check at 50 FHR after the modification. This post check takes
1.5 hours and
should have a 2 days forewarning. To do the modification you need the new
Axle and a 200 tons jack.
This modification should be carried out on all X747-900, rev n serials between
nX50000 and nX50010.

Instruction
- Open the
Define Modification window.
- Create a new record (F5) and specify your Mod Code nNEWAXL - New axle
revision and Revision 1.
- Click the
Definition tab. Specify Category to
Mandatory, Assignment
Type to By Serial Range, your Workshop Code nLAX-C, Mod Type XBULL
and
a Level Code.
- Enter Days Forewarning, Duration Workshop and Rescission
Date according to the information described above. Select the Allow Quick Reporting
check box.
- Optionally, you can enter additional information
on the modification in the Information field. When a task is created for the
modification, this information will be transferred to the Task Remark
field of the corresponding task record on the maintenance order.
- Save the information (F12).
- Click the
Assign Parts tab and specify
your Part Number X747-900.
- Save the information (F12).
- Click the
Assign Part Revisions tab, specify
your Revision n
(if not already present) and save (F12).
- Click the Serial Range tab and specify Serial
Number Range nX50000..nX50010 for Part Number X747-900.
- Save the information (F12).
- Click the
Define Post Maint tab and select the Enable Post Maintenance Check
check box.
Specify Days Forewarning 2, Interval 50 FHR and Interval
Limit 50 FHR.
- Optionally, you can enter additional information
on the post maintenance check for the modification in the Task Remark field. When a
PMC task is created, this information will be transferred to the Task Remark
field of the corresponding task record on the maintenance order.
- Save the information (F12).
- Next you have to refer to the Instruction that you have already defined.
- Open the
Instruction
window (not the Instructions tab on
Modification Details window).
- Query (F3) for your Operation Number n032901. Click the
Modification
tab, create new record (F5) and specify your Mod Code with Connection
Type Terminating Action and the Mod Rev you specified earlier.
- Save the information (F12).
- Right-click on the
Define Modification
window header and then click Modification Details.
- Click the
Instructions
tab and
select the Terminating Action connection type. The link to the operation should have been established.
- Click the
Execution
tab and click on
the Terminating Action sub tab and
specify the 600 FHR deadline for the modification. Save.
- Activate the modification by navigating to the
Define Modification
window by right-click on the window header and then
click Define Modification. After this right-click and then click Status
and Set Active.
