Copying Revisions—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Required Data

Creating Product Structure

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up the part revisions and product structures on your site for running functionality using racing engine data.

Copying Revisions

  1. Open the Product Structure window, and query for Part 20–250.
  2. Right-click and then click Copy Structure Revision.
  3. Enter Destination Revision 2 (the default is the source revision number plus one).
  4. Enter a phase-in date equal to today's date plus 15 days.
  5. Enter the Manufacturing structure type.
  6. Click OK. The new revision is displayed in the Product Structure window.
  7. Open the Inventory Part Revision window, and analyze the new part revision created (this does not apply to routing revisions). You have now copied a revision, which means that the components connected to the structure are also copied to the new revision number. For the routing, it applies to operations.

Note: The same procedure applies to recipe structures, plan structures, configuration structures, and routings.
