Setting Up Shop Order Process Type - Basic Data and Requirements Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to set up different process types.

Create Process Type for Release Shop Order Requisitions

  1. Open the Manufacturing Standard Basic Data window. Click the Shop Order Process Type tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. Enter Process Type 1 and the description Release SO Req.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Create a new row.
  6. Click Release Shop Order Requisition.
  7. Enter 15 as the number of days before the latest order date. When you run the Auto Process of Shop Order, all Shop Order Requisition for parts connected to this process type within 15 days before the order date are released. The Auto Process of Shop Order can be set up as a schedule, e.g., once every other week. The connection between the process type and inventory part is made in on the Inventory Part/Manufacturing tab.

Create Process Type for Release Shop Order Requisitions/Release Shop Order/Reserve Shop Order

  1. In the Manufacturing Standard Basic Data window, click the Shop Order Process Type tab.
  2. Create a new record.
  3. Enter Process Type 2 and the description Release/Reserve SO Process.
  4. Save your changes.
  5. Create a new row.
  6. Click Release Shop Order Requisition.
  7. Enter 15 as the number of days before the latest order date. 
  8. Create a new row.
  9. Click Release Shop Order.
  10. Enter 5 as the number of days before the latest order date. 
  11. Create a new row.
  12. Click Reserve Shop Order.
  13. Enter 1 as the number of days before the latest order date. 

Note: The Shop Order Requisition will be released 15 days before the start date and the shop order will be released 5 days before the start date and the SO will be reserved 1 day before the start date. 

You have now created a process that takes care of the entire flow from requisition to reserved order when you run the Auto Process of Shop Order for parts connected to this process type.
