Course Description for Linear Asset

This course gives you a basic understanding of IFS/Linear Asset, with emphasis on Linear Asset Administration processes. It covers the definition of the basic data needed in the Linear Asset Administration phases to come and the key concepts, as they pertain to design a road system.

Target Audience

This course was designed primarily for system administrators who will be configuring IFS/Linear Asset for other users to register and maintain linear asset data. It is also an suitable to serve as the entry point for all IFS/Linear Asset user.

Initial Exercises

This chapter covers the pre accounting basic data in the IFS/Linear Asset that stems from the Linear Asset Design process. This include pre accounting for linear assets and sections.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed a basic navigation course in IFS Applications.

Basic Data and Requirements

This chapter covers the basic data that is used in the IFS/Linear Asset that stems from the Linear Asset Design process. This include technical class templates, linear asset types, segment types, element types and connection types.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed a basic navigation course in IFS Applications.

Create Linear Asset

This chapter introduces you to linear assets and their purpose, describe how to create either from the IFS/Asset Design or from the IFS/Linear Asset and edit them. You will also learn how to define additional information on a linear asset, change the design object, unit of measures, define values for its technical attributes, define values for its pre posting values.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed the Basic Data and Requirements chapter.

Manage Linear Asset

This chapter introduces you to linear asset components and their purpose, describe how to create segments, sections, connections, elements and connecting object to the elements. You will also learn how to use status handling, revision handling and define values for its technical attributes, define values for its pre posting values. 

Prerequisites

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed the Initial Exercises and the Create Linear Asset chapters.

Maintain Linear Asset

This chapter introduces you in connecting a linear asset to IFS/Work Order Management and their purpose. You will also learn how to use the Create Fault Report Assistant to easy connect a linear asset object to a Fault Report.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed the Manage Linear Asset chapter.

Plan and Prepare WO

This chapter introduces you in to work orders connected to linear assets and their purposes. You will also learn how to switch the object connection type and use linear asset information to complement the work orders.

Before taking the lessons in this chapter, you should have completed the Maintain Linear Asset chapter.
