Basic Data Setup

Creating Technical Classes and Attributes

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to create technical classes and attributes.

Windows:
Engineering/Linear Asset/Basic Data/Technical Classes and Attributes

  1. Enter a new technical class called ROAD. Add Road as description.
  2. In the Attributes tab, fill in the values as below:
    Attribute Type Description
    LANES Numeric Number of lanes
    SPEED Numeric Speed limit
    SURFACE Alphanumeric Surface

Creating Technical Class Template

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to enter values on the attributes belonging to the technical class.

Windows:
Engineering/Linear Asset/Basic Data/Technical Class Template

  1. Search for your newly created technical class ROAD.
  2. In the Numeric tab, fill in the values as below:
    Attribute UoM
    LANES pcs
    SPEED km/h
  3. In the Alphanumeric tab enter SURFACE as attribute and add the values Asphalt and Concrete to it.

Main Exercise

Purpose: The purpose of this lesson is to set up linear asset related basic data.

Windows:

       Engineering/Linear Asset/Basic Data/Linear Asset Basic Data

Creating Linear Asset Types

  1. Open the Linear Asset Basic Data window.
  2. In the Linear Asset Types tab click New (+).
  3. Fill in the values as below:
  4. Linear Asset Type Description Technical Class
    ROAD Road ROAD
  5. Click Save.

Creating Segment Types

  1. Open the Linear Asset Basic Data window.
  2. In the Segment Types tab click New (+).
  3. Fill in the values as below:
  4. Segment Type Description
    SLIPROAD Slip Road
  5. Click Save.

Creating Element Types

  1. Open the Linear Asset Basic Data window.
  2. In the Element Types tab click New (+).
  3. Fill in the values as below:
    Element Type Description
    INFOMARKER Information Marker
    SPEEDSIGN Speed Sign
    BRIDGE Bridge
    TUNNEL Tunnel
    STREETLIGHT Street Light
    MILEMARKER Mile Marker
  4. Click Save.

Creating Connection Types

  1. Open the Linear Asset Basic Data window.
  2. In the Connection Types tab click New (+).
  3. Fill in the values as below:
    Connection Type Connection Type Description
    PARALLEL Parallel Two parallel roads
    INTERSECTION Intersection Two roads that crosses each other
  4. Click Save.
