Adding Functionality to a User

Many of the users in the Racing database have no functions beyond being users and Persons. Most are not even linked to companies, which makes it impossible to use them. Therefore, as an instructor or a course administrator, you may need to add functionality to an existing user in the database before that user can be used.

Instructions

To use an existing user, perform the following steps in the TMTOT database: 

  1. Logon to the application, entering IFSAPP for both the user name and password. 
  2. Open the Users per Company. 
  3. Query for the company to which your new user should be linked. 
  4. In the table portion of the window, add a record for your user and save it. 
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any additional companies to which you want to link your user. You can now log on as your new user. 
  6. Open window Sites per User. 
  7. Create a new record. 
  8. Enter your new user name and save your changes. 
  9. In the table portion of the window, create a new record for the site to which your new user should be linked. Enter as many site records as needed. You now have access to data for the sites and companies to which you have linked your user. 
  10. Depending on the additional functions that your user may need to perform, you can add records for the user in the following windows. (Full windows given.)
