Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercise(s) is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in Human Resources Planning, which entails:

Defining Organizational Competencies

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to give you a brief overview of how a company's competency structure may look.

Competency Structure

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown.

  1. Open the Structure window and populate.
  2. The competencies showing are competency groups, e.g., Language.
  3. Click Language. The competency elements are showing, e.g., English.
  4. In this window, you can rearrange the competency structure using the drag-and-drop feature.

Defining Job

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the task of registering information about a job.

Job Specification

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown.

  1. Open the Job Description window and populate. The job description describes a job's specific tasks, duties, and responsibilities.
  2. Select the job HRMGR, Manager of Human Resources.
  3. View the different tabs.
  4. Open the Job Specification window and populate. The job specification describes which competencies, education, and experiences the job requires.
  5. Select the job HRMGR, Manager of Human Resources.
  6. View the different tabs.
