Tips and Tricks for Handle Fleet Forecasting

Below is a list of tips and tricks for the Operational Budgeting and Forecasting course. Click one of the items below to see information that may be helpful to you as you take the course.

Users

There is a number of predefined User IDs for the IFS/Vehicle Information Management (IFS/VIM) courses. This makes it easier for the teacher as he/she does not have to define users when starting a training course. Note: These users have been set up properly with company, site, employee, etc.:

User ID Role Student Number Company Site
VIM Main VIM user - 10 91
JATA Teacher - 10 91
CHBE Student n=1 10 91
COHO Student n=2 10 91
FRFO Student n=3 10 91
GEPI Student n=4 10 91
JABR Student n=5 10 91
JOHA Student n=6 10 91
MIJA Student n=7 10 91
PERO Student n=8 10 91
RIST Student n=9 10 91
ROPA Student n=10 10 91

Exercise data identifiers & numbering

In the exercises you will see that most of the data are specified with prefix "n", "X" or a combination of these. Examples: nAC (Maintenance Group), nX747-900 (Part Number) and X10000 (Serial Number). The use of prefixes has several advantages:
- the "n" is used to identify data belonging to attendee or student number "n"
- the "X" makes it easy to query on the data you are using in the IFS/VIM exercises (including predefined data)
- exercise text can be more specific when referring to exercises data elements
- the attendees do not have to create their own identifiers

Operational Budgeting Exercise

Operational budgeting is done for a combination of owner and vehicle part. The budget will embrace all valid revisions of the vehicle part connected to that owner.

Forecasting

The forecasting process depends on historical data. Since there are no historical operation loggings or maintenance records which exists in the database, there is no exercise for this chapter.

Executables

The executable named Vehicle Information Management.exe includes all the functionality needed to complete exercises in this course and the other courses of IFS/VIM.
