User Data—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own company to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other company, your exercises will not function as intended and the data of other students might be affected. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own company.

Main Exercises

Purpose: The user data is a central concept in the system and needs to be defined initially. The user is connected to a user group that has several different purposes in IFS Financials. The user data consist of several parts which all are defined in IFS/Accounting Rules. The parts are:

User Per Company

  1. Open this window as and search for the previously created company. 

  2. Check that your end-user login ID and name/description are presented in the form. Also select the Default Company check box so that this company will be your default company every time you login.

  3. Save.

User Groups

User Groups

  1. Open this window and make sure it shows the right company at the left hand corner of the window.

  2. Press new in the table to create a new user group called CC100. Enter the following data:

User Group Description
CC100 Users in cost center 101
  1. Save.

Note: This user group will be used by users belonging to a cost center (the Finance department) within the company. You will belong to this group by default. This user group will have some restrictions in contrast to user group AC, which will have total control over all transactions, balances and postings.

  1. Open this window, from the Navigator or by using the right mouse button in the User Groups window. Query to find user group CC100.

  2. Put the cursor in the User ID field and click New. Enter your user ID or use List of Values to find your user. The Default Group field should be Yes.

  3. Save.
