Accounting Calendar—Exercises

IMPORTANT
It is extremely important that you set up and work within your own company to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other company, your exercises will not function as intended and the data of other students might be affected. Generate Accounting Periods

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to create two new accounting periods in your company.

Windows:
Accounting Periods

  1. Open the Accounting Periods window, and click Query (F3).
  2. In the Sort column, choose the option Descending. That is the sort order for the accounting year and accounting period.
  3. Click OK. You now see the most recent period that was entered into the system. 
  4. Enter new periods using the information in the table below.

  1. Save your changes.

Generate Accounting Periods for User Group

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to generate accounting periods for User Group CC100 in Company 10.

Windows:
Accounting Periods

  1. In the Accounting Periods window, open the query window, and select year 1999.

  2. Select all rows, right-click, and then click Create Periods for User Groups to open the Create Periods for User Groups dialog box.

  3. Select CC100 for the User Group field and click OK. This generates access for the user group in the specified periods.

Close Accounting Periods for User Group

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to show you how to close two periods for a specified user group.

Windows:
User Groups per Period

  1. Open the User Groups per Period window.

  2. Query for year 1999, Periods 1 and 2.

  3. Close the periods for User Group CC100 by switching the period status from Open to Closed.

  4. Save your changes, and close the window.
