Currency Balance Accounting

This chapter describes the Currency Balance Accounting process, where one or more currencies are stored at balance level in the general ledger. This makes it possible to retrieve a balance in the accounting currency, as well as in another currency. The currency balance information can be shown in queries and reports created in IFS/Report Generator.

Chapter Length

The estimated time to complete this chapter is 30 minutes.

Target Audience

This course was designed primarily for application consultants within IFS Financials, and for employees working with IFS/Report Generator and IFS/General Ledger.

Project Accounting

This chapter describes the use of different types of projects. By using different project types, you can select whether project costs and project revenues will influence results during the lifetime of the project, as well as how they will influence them. You can analyze the projects through queries in IFS/General Ledger.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lesson in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge of working with financial transactions in IFS Applications.

Internal Elimination

This chapter describes how the Internal Elimination process is used for selecting transactions that can be excluded in queries, fixed reports, and reports that are produced in IFS/Report Generator. Before the transactions can be selected, an elimination structure must be defined in IFS/General Ledger. The update routine then selects the transactions with an elimination code.

Report Generator

This chapter describes how to create reports based on the information in IFS/General Ledger. The reports can contain information on the general ledger balances and the project accounting balances, and these can be handled in accounting currency, original currency, and parallel currency. These can also be separated into debits and credits. The reports can also be based on balances from the budget versions.

Prerequisites

Before taking the lesson in this chapter, you should have basic knowledge of working with financial transactions in IFS Applications.

Management Accounting

This chapter covers the functions in IFS/Internal Ledger, where internal transactions are handled. In the Basic Data and Requirements lesson, you get instructions on setting up the basic data required in the system before starting work with the main lessons. In the Internal Ledger Entry lesson, enter transactions that can be excluded from the general ledger accounting. The Internal Ledger Analysis lesson contains information on how to use queries and reports to analyze the management transactions.
