Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of this initial exercise is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in Employee Development, which entails:

These initial exercises are intended for instructor use.

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity. If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students. Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site.

Employee Development

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the basic functionality of Employee Development.

Counseling Plan
Employee Self Assessment
Competency Gap Analysis
Employee Development Program

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown. (To view existing data, populate (F2).)

  1. Open the Counseling Plan window (make sure you are logged in as Alain Prost). Enter a counseling date for one of your employees (e.g., Andy Jafferson or Damon Hill).
  2. Open Employee Self Assessment and populate the window. Select the employee Alain Prost or Andy Jefferson. View the information in the different tabs.
  3. Open Competency Gap Analysis and populate the window. Select the employee Alain Prost. Click the Position tab and compare the employee's qualifications against the position HRM, Manager of Human Resources.  
  4. Open the Employee Development Program window. Select your employee (Andy Jefferson) with a query.
  5. Open the Counseling Plan tab and set today as the actual date. 
  6. Double-click in the note column to register a summary of the counseling session.
