Initial Exercises

Purpose: The purpose of these initial exercises is that the instructor will use them for demonstrating the basic functionality in Career and Succession Plans and in Employee Development, which entails:

These Initial Exercises are intended for instructor use.

 

If you are a student, it is extremely important that you set up and work within your own site to maintain your data integrity.  If you work within any other site, you will compromise your own exercise data as well as the data of other students.  Predictable exercise results require that your data be isolated in your own site. 

Career and Succession Planning

Purpose: The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize you with the basic functionality of career and succession planning. The exercise entails creating a career plan counseling.

Career Plan Counseling

Steps: To complete this exercise, perform the following steps in the sequence shown. (To view existing data, populate (F2).)

  1. Open the Career Plan Counseling window.

  2. Populate the window and select the employee Andy Jefferson.

  3. In the Career Path tab you see Andy's next job and within what time period this is reasonable to achieve.

  4. In the Career Counseling tab you can see when Andy Jefferson's career was discussed and also the contents of the counseling session. By double clicking the Discussion Result you will get a better overview.

  5. In the Development Plan tab you can see in what areas Andy needs to improve. You can enter any information.

  6. In the Strengths and Development Areas tabs you can see the differences between Andy's qualifications and the qualifications required for his job.

  7. In the Area of Interest tab you can see if there are any areas that Andy want to work within or learn more about.

  8. In the Career Potentiality tab Andy's manager has assessed Andy's career potentiality.
